Date visited: 2013.08 for brunch
Total bill: RMB¥505 for four people (5% off bill if you pay cash)
Will return: Yes
Abbey Road serves very generous brunch portions. It’s good for my buck but bad for my body. Ugh–again–nobody ever wants to share a plate with me and everyone opted for their own plates to hog. Thank the Asian gene pool for my metabolism at least. Everyone else, I hope your bellies get bigger than mine. Hmph.
No, we did not eat the dog. Dogs allowed.
We sat outside on the patio. How considerate that they put an bug repellent at every table. If only I saw this before my leg was eaten alive. My food blogger blood is just too fragrant. I kid… actually, no I am serious.
Breakfast plates are served with choice of muesli (it’s basically granola; I had to google it), cornflakes, or fruit bowl. Everyone got fruit bowls; all cut up like the way our Asian mothers spoil us (or is that just me).
Breakfast Club (RMB¥110) with 2 eggs, 2 sausages, 2 slices of bacon, rosti, 2 slices of toast, fresh juice, AND choice of coffee, tea, or milk.
Recommend: yes
Talk about a handful. Seriously, two people can comfortably share this. There are even two drinks. Literally three people at the table ordered this but nobody wanted to share one with me (why why why) so I was left to eat an entire portion by myself. I finished it anyway.
Yes, I am drinking hot coffee outside on a hot day. I do what I do. As for the orange juice, I can’t really tell you if it was fresh or not because I offered someone a sip and they drank the whole thing. It looked pretty pulp-y but I can’t confirm since someone stole it from me.
Everything was very basic breakfast food but the important thing was that it was all cooked very well and tasted exactly how they should taste. No fancy Eggs Benedict here but this is the place to go if you want to get a decent basic breakfast fix, which I do support once in awhile when I’m not stuffing my face with three course brunch sets at Cuivre.
The bacon was a super fatty cut–I liked. Rosti (underneath the toast and bacon) is a Swiss potato pancake–I also liked. The owner is from Switzerland although–I don’t know–something about this place would have made me guess the UK.
Steak & Eggs (RMB¥120) with steak (obviously), 2 eggs, mushrooms, rosti, and 2 slices of toast
Recommend: yes
Someone already got started on this. Despite appearances, the steak was quite tender and juicy. Nice. This was more of a man’s plate. I can’t handle this much steak this early in the morning but for dinner, I will eat a freaking cow myself.
