The Commune Social

[Shanghai] The Commmune Social (Lunch)

Anything Jason Atherton–I’m there. The Commune Social is the Shanghai counterpart to Jason Atherton’s 22 Ships in Hong Kong–with a lot more space. Just like 22 Ships, The Commune Social serves up tapas with a modern flair. The food looks and tastes great.

Hai by Goga

[Shanghai] Hai by Goga

My friend and I decided to make an impromptu visit to Hai by Goga for an early dinner one night. While I didn’t get to sample many dishes during this visit (we were supposedly on diets but not really), it was enough for me to declare that I love this place. All signs point to I will be back for more.

Gui Hua Lou Shangri-La

[Shanghai] Gui Hua Lou 桂花楼 at Pudong Shangri-La

Gui Hua Lou 桂花楼 at Pudong Shangri-La offers a 58 dim sums menu. Good dim sum in Shanghai is pretty questionable and this is one of the better ones. Not the best but good enough to warrant future visits for dim sum brunch.

Piro Shanghai

[Shanghai] Piro

This restaurant is very American. Verrrry American. Something you would see in a college town. In fact, this is a Penn State (and Yankees) restaurant bar. Enter at your own risk should either team be a rival to you. I went to a rival school. Biased? Of course. Go blue.

Le Saleya Shanghai

[Shanghai] Le Saleya (2)

Back to Le Saleya again and ordered some different dishes to try (but the foie gras is a must get every time). My previous dinner here was great and Le Saleya surprised me with even more great dishes tonight. This is an excellent place for French food in Shanghai.

Pasha Shanghai

[Shanghai] Pasha 帕夏土耳其餐厅

Turkish food–no urge to ever eat it but I accept it if someone else wants to try it. I don’t have too much basis for comparison when it comes to Turkish food but Pasha was good generally speaking. I think Pasha will provide satisfactory Turkish food for those who want it but it won’t convert anyone to Turkish food.

elEFANTE

[Shanghai] elEFANTE (Lunch)

Elephants everywhere.

La Taverna Shanghai

[Shanghai] La Taverna

Stopped by here while looking for more dessert… after having ice cream across the street at Le Creme Milano.

Le Creme Milano

[Shanghai] Le Creme Milano

Not too keen on this. The gelato tasted more watery rather than creamy and frankly more like ice cream than gelato. I much prefer Fresh Gelato.

[Shanghai] Fresh Gelato 圣久代

[Shanghai] Fresh Gelato 圣久代

My go-to gelato shop!
