Upon hearing I like Earl Grey, my foodie friend immediately recommended this gelateria that sells Earl Grey gelato. When I arrived, I spotted the Hong Kong Style Milk Tea flavor and I had to have it, too (dessert monster, I know). The texture of the gelato was thick and creamy–the way gelato should be. Both flavors were really good, with the Earl Grey just marginally better than the Hong Kong Style Milk Tea.
The difference between gelato and ice cream is that gelato contains less air and fat (although I don’t think it’s any healthier for you to eat this) than ice cream. Gelato is churned at a slower speed than ice cream, which lets less air into the gelato. The result is a richer and denser taste than ice cream. Basically, gelato > ice cream.
