Date visited: 2013.07
Total bill: $24 + tax and tip per person (brunch is cash only)
Will return: Yes
What to get:
– Brunch Special
– Potato Pancakes

The $23.95 brunch special technically includes 3 bloody marys, screwdrivers or mimosas but no one is counting. Our table was right by the bar so empty drinks were immediately replaced with new ones. It’s a bustling place–very loud, crowded, and hectic during weekend brunch–the servers wouldn’t be able to keep track of every person’s drink count even if they tried. So really, it’s free-flow cocktails.

Heads up: even if you have a reservation, they still make you wait past the time of your reservation. Literally happens to everyone every time. BRUNCH IS CA$H ONLY

Onion Bread (Complimentary)
Not that great. Take it easy on the bread so you have room for more drinks.

Omelet ($23.95 brunch special) with spinach, tomato, sheep’s milk cheese
Recommend: yes
A hearty dose of fluffy omelet. It’s a perfectly fine omelet if you are in the mood for one.

The Aristocrat ($23.95 brunch special) with potato pancakes, house-cured salmon gravlax, salmon caviar, sour cream, poached eggs
Recommend: yes
My personal favorite here. There is another entree with potato pancakes (Essex Famous Potato Pancakes with sautéed apples, honey cream sauce, and spinach-shiitake-black bean hash) but I wanted the poached eggs and salmon so this was the best route to go. The potato pancakes were so crispy! I don’t like salmon roe in general but everything else together was very good.
