I said one of these days I was just going to eat a meal of pork buns. This is me doing that.
Steamed Buns ($10 for two buns) with pork belly, hoisin, cucumbers, scallions
Recommend: yes
I didn’t think these could get better than when I first had them at Momofuku Noodle Bar but they did. I got a particularly fatty cut of pork belly during this visit and it absolutely melted in my mouth. Perfect.
Add srircha and enjoy.
BBQ Bun ($6 for one bun) crispy pork belly, coleslaw, smoked mayo
Recommend: no
I didn’t understand why the BBQ bun came in an order of one whereas the steamed buns came in an order of two until the BBQ bun arrived in front of me. It was huge. The crispy pork belly was a little too much meat–I think it would have worked really well if it were a thinner and more crispy piece. The combination of BBQ sauce and cole slaw was not great and I would have preferred a spicy slaw instead. Steamed buns are much better. Stick to those!
BBQ bun on the left and steamed bun on the right for comparison.
Skip the dessert here and go to Momofuku Milk Bar across the street for cereal milk soft serve and crack pie.
No bo ssam? Oh man, just had that before heading back to A2 last weekend. Best meal all weekend.
