This. place. has. the. slowest. service. ever, which is negligible if the food was worth waiting for. But it wasn’t. Many dishes looked good on the menu but tasted epic fail. There was a lot of sauce on everything. Nothing tasted as good as I expected. While there were a few things I liked, I didn’t like them enough to warrant a return visit.
Wagyu Beef Tartare ($16) with shiso, red onions, spicy sauce, quail egg
Recommend: no
I like my steaks medium rare but I’m not sure how I feel about completely raw beef. I wish they sliced the beef into thinner pieces rather than small cubes because it was rather chewy. The elements never came together and I kept thinking something was missing from this mix. It was wasabi.
I didn’t like that the crispy rice cracker took the focus away from the beef.
Wagyu Beef Sushi ($5.50 per piece)
Recommend: yes
This was good. The wasabi went really well with the beef.
Foie Gras Sushi ($7 per piece, minimum order 2 pieces)
Recommend: no
I was really looking forward to this but it was a major disappointment. There was too much sauce on this and the sauce flavor was off. To be honest, it tasted like portobello mushroom and didn’t have that special foie gras taste.
Uni Lover ($6.50 per piece; minimum order 2 pieces) with avocado, uni chips, and garlic-peanut oil
Recommend: yes
I liked this but again, a little too much sauce so it was really garlicky. At the end of the day, it is just fresh uni, which I can get at other places.
Sirloin Steak Rice Bowl (Small $10.50; Large $14.50)
Recommend: no
Just an ordinary bowl of steak don. Nothing special.
Dashimaki – Japanese Style Egg Omelet ($6)
Recommend: no
This was very bland; definitely needed more sugar in the mix.
