Egg Cafe is opened by Shanghai Supper Club founder Camden. Aside from putting an egg on everything on her all-day breakfast offerings, Camden is hosting weekly dinners featuring set menus by various chefs for RMB288 (drinks extra). Think of it as a Supper Club spinoff but you know in advance who is cooking on which day.
I went to the first installment of Chef’s Table at Egg — “Thaitalian,” a fusion of Thai and Italian flavors by Chef Austin Hu of Madison (though he maintains the proper name is “Sex Tour ’80” — I have no comment). I knew a few people who had snagged spots at the table and also met new faces. All in all a nice dinner party at a good value if you stay off the alcohol.
