Morton’s Happy Hour is great, but it ends before I even leave the office most days. And on days when I miraculous rush to IAPM (let’s not even talk about teleporting to the IFC branch) just before Happy Hour ends at 7pm, it is packed with everyone and their mothers.
Here is another option. Every day from 5:30pm to 8:00pm, el COCTEL’s Early Hour offers French oysters for RMB¥10 each. It is true. I have verified this by inhaling these by the dozen and I was fine afterwards. Grab a drink (RMB¥80-100), some oysters, and a panini, and there you have it: a well balanced meal in a relaxed lounge setting.
The Italian ham, mozzarella and truffle oil panini (RMB¥68) was packed with flavor from the gooey cheese and abundance of truffle oil. A most genius grilled cheese.
P.S. el COCTEL is located on the second floor in the same building as Bikini, a hotdog and sandwich shop also by Willy (of el Willy). I think the food offered at el COCTEL is made at Bikini. Efficient! The entrance to el COCTEL is marked by the cocktail shaker below the address plate, which I failed to spot the first two times I walked back and forth between Bikini and Nene.
