Address: 岳阳路1号7楼 – 7F, 1 Yueyang Rd (徐汇区 Xuhui District)
Date visited: 2013.08 for dinner
Total bill: RMB¥310 for two people; cash only
Will return: Definitely
My friend and I decided to make an impromptu visit to Hai by Goga for an early dinner one night. While I didn’t get to sample many dishes during this visit (we were supposedly on diets but not really), it was enough for me to declare that I love this place. All signs point to I will be back for more.
Update: here is my coming back for more post.
Price-wise, plates range from under RMB¥100 to over RMB¥300. It can be an expensive meal or a really expensive meal but it’s worth the dent in your wallet. Important: cash only! Bring a lot.
Vietnamese ceviche (RMB¥100) with crispy fried shallots, crushed cashews, chili salt
Recommend: yes
Light and fruity with a creamy finish.
Salmon salad (from the Goga menu RMB¥90) with wasabi crunch
Recommend: yes
This was actually from the Goga menu downstairs. This salad was so so good. Everything about it just worked and the wasabi element was icing on the cake. The salmon was nicely cooked through on the outside and left slightly pink inside.
GoGa sliders (RMB¥120) with wagyu beef, blue cheese, duck fat fries
I smelled the truffle mayo before the plate even landed on our table. Dip the duck fat fries in these–utterly amazing.
As for the burgers, a hint of wasabi in the blue cheese sauce took these to another level (tasting a trend here).
